2013 Wow!

…doesn’t seem possible that I am in my 13th year of business, where did the time go?

Thirteen years ago, I had reached  a point where I needed to do something more with my life. My two children were grown and on their own and I knew it was time to pay attention to my own education. My husband was terminally ill and knew I would need to increase my income for the future because, sadly, my husband wasn’t going to be there to grow old along with me.

I remembered a facial I’d received as a gift from my daughter and  how relaxed and reinvigorated it had left me feeling. I thought it would be rewarding to provide that type of break from life’s daily struggles to other people. I started looking  into various healing  therapies and was really interested in Massage Therapy. I wondered what the training would be like and if I could do it at my age? I did the research, quit my job and went to school full time.

I graduated with a 3.95 GPA  – not bad for an old dog learning a new trick! I was the oldest student in class, but I took my training seriously. I was so thrilled with being able to help other people that I opened my own business before graduating!   “Time Out Care Massage Practice” was born.

Since then, through a lot of hard work and help from some very wonderful friends, I’ve expanded my training and business to include Doula Labor and Delivery Coaching, Hypnosis and many other therapies.  After sharing offices with other practitioners, I established my own office and treatment center on Riverview Drive in Plains in 2011. Throughout the years of growth and training, I’ve made it my policy to keep clients’ fees as low and as stable as possible because I understand that everyone needs help, regardless of income or insurance.

In 2011, I was very excited to receive my license  from the Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy, the first year the licenses became available. It allows me to offer a wide range of practice options for my patients.

I enjoy all aspects of this business I’ve created, but it is the hands-on work of helping my patients that I truly LOVE. I know that I am blessed, and I thank God every day for giving me a push and  guiding me down this path, even though He had to give me a few good swift kicks along the way. I think I know what He wants me to do now. And whoever said you can’t teach an old dog a new trick didn’t realize….it just TAKES A LOT OF PATIENCE!.

In addition to being licensed by the PA State Board of Massage Therapy,
